Units - Medic 172
Shaler EMS Medic 172 is a 2001 Type 1 Ford ambulance manufactured by Medtec Industries and delivered by Pfund Superior Sales Company.
Unique features of this unit include a mid sized (90”) Challenger module, which is supported by a Graining air ride suspension. This results in excellent payload capacity and a marked improvement in vehicle handling and patient comfort.
The emergency warning package is supplied by Whelen Engineering and consists of twenty (20) strobes and two halogen rotators. The siren is a dual amp system with in-the- bumper mounted speakers.
Medic 172 is a licensed ALS (advanced life support) unit and carries all the standard equipment. Some of the advanced capabilities of this unit include the Physio-Control Lifepak 12 with hands free defibrillation and 12 lead EKG capabilities. In addition this machine includes non-invasive blood pressure monitoring and capnography. Ventilation of non-breathing and intubated patients is accomplished with the Impact automatic ventilator.
Patient transportation is accomplished with the Stryker Rugged MX-Pro stretcher. This stretcher has a weight capacity of 500 pounds and is a roll in type stretcher.
Medic 172 is a secondary unit for Shaler EMS and handles about 400 calls per year
